> "Easter" At the discovery of historical and traditional craftsmanship of alabaster and other Arteinbottega crafts.

> "Easter Monday" The Volterran Historical Flag Waving Group in Piazza dei Priori at 11:00am.

May - June 2011

> "Walk among the Etruscan Hills"  itineraries for those  who wish to walk, family groups and for those who wish to run.  Itineraries immersed in nature and among Etruscan archaeological sites.

 

> "Festivities for the Patron Saints of Volterra"  the fifth of June with various initiatives by the Contradas (neighbourhood circles). "The Big Candle Game with Tug-of-war", a challenge between the eight volterran contradas.

 

> "Symposium of  sculpture in Alabaster" June

 

> "The Binding"  historical mediaeval re-enactment.  The perimeter of the church of San Giusto is bound with a rope around to re-new symbolically the union between the catholic church and the people.

 

> "Cross bow Target Shooting" historical parade in costume, cross bow contest with the Volterran Cross Bow Archers Group in Piazza dei Priori.

 

> "Itinerary Artistic Artisanship" the stores of the artisans of Arteinbottega will be open for all those who wish to acquaint themselves with our traditional crafts.  A map with an itinerary and catalogue can be requested at Arteinbottega, it also is available at the Volterran Tourism Consortium in Piazza dei Priori.

 

July - August 2011
 

> "VolterraTeatro" international experimental theatre festival.

 

> "White Nights of Volterra" guided visits in the city's museums and historical palaces, music and activities in the streets and tasting and sampling of typical culinary products.

> "Volterra Jazz" international recital of jazz music in Piazza dei Priori.

> "Volterra AD 1398" third and fourth Sundays of August where an re-enactment of the medieval period takes place in the historical center of Volterra and during the week with medieval initiatives by the eight contradas and historical groups of Volterra.

> "Itinerary of the Artistic Artisans" the stores of the artisans of Arteinbottega will be open for all those who wish to acquaint themselves with our traditional crafts. September 2011

> "Astiludio" first Sunday of September in Piazza dei Priori with the Volterran Historical Flag Waving Group and guest Historical Flag Waving Groups from around Italy.

 

> "International Choral Musical Festival" with the Volterrran Giacomo Puccini Choral and guest choral groups.

 

> "Volterra-San Gimignano"/"San gimignano-Volterra" international competitive foot race.  Third Sunday of September.

October - November 2011

> "Volterragusto" days dedicated to typical culinary and crafts products from Volterra, Valdicecina and Valdera.  Various cheeses, ricotta, oil, wine, bread, various cured pork products and the white truffle fair.
